Confrides, has its origin in a Muslim farmhouse called Aljofra; After its conquest in the year 1264, Jaime I of Aragon donated the town to Vidal de Sarriá; Although its population remained in the hands of Sarriá for two generations, soon was assigned to Infant Pere; Later, the Cardona’s and Ariza’s families ruled over the jurisdiction of the town; During the second half of the fourteenth century and as a result of the war in Castile, Confrides was conquered by the Castilian troops and maintained in its power until 1364 which was recovered by Pedro IV of Aragon; At the beginning of the sixteenth century and as a consequence of the war of the Germanies its Muslim population, which could then rise up to 120-160 inhabitants, was forced to convert to Christianity. The Mudejares of Confrides badly accepted their forced conversion and in 1526 rebelled against the decision of the junta of 1525. A few years before the expulsion, Confrides could count on about 240 inhabitants who opposed a strong armed resistance, took shelter to the Mountains of the Valley of Alauar, before the order of exile of the Moorish minority (1609). Confrides was distinguished by its rejection to the side Bourbon during the War of Succession.
